CGN successfully installed and handed over advanced electron accelerator for sterilization to TNDT PCL.
On April 22, 2021, Ms.Chomduen Satavuthi, Managing director of TNDT PCL.and President of TNDT Advance Technology Co., Ltd., received a golden key from Mr. Liu Yunli, Team Leader of CGN Dasheng for handing over a state-of-the-art electron accelerator system. The accelerator will produce a high-energy electron beam that uses for sterilizing a broad range of products in a wide variety of industries. The hand-over ceremony was attended and celebrated by professors from the Department of Nuclear Engineering, the Faculty of Engineering, Chulalongkorn University, and experts from the Thai-German Institute.
The electron beam facility, located in Nikhompattanata district, Rayong province, Thailand, is the first commercial sterilization facility in Thailand that use the electron beam, which is purely produced from electrical power, without the use of any radioactive materials. Amidst the COVID-19 crisis, the demand for product sterilization and health safety has increased dramatically, and the electron beam is a practical solution to keep up with the demand since the technology can sterilize products within a few minutes, comparing with other technologies that take days or weeks.
